Article 8 - Rights of citizenship of certain persons of India origin residing outside India

 

Article 8 provides for the citizenship rights of certain individuals of Indian origin residing outside India.

 

These individuals will be considered citizens of India if they meet certain criteria such as:

 

1. Having Indian ancestry (as defined by the Government of India Act, 1935)

 

2. Being registered as a citizen of India by the Indian diplomatic or consular representative in the country where they are residing.

 

3. Registration can be done before or after the start of the Constitution.

 

4. Form and manner of registration is prescribed by the Government of India or the Dominion of India.
