India is considered a sub-continent because of its distinct geographical, cultural, and historical features. Geographically, India is separated from the rest of Asia by the Himalayas, the Hindu Kush, and the Karakoram mountain ranges, which form a natural barrier between the Indian sub-continent and the rest of the continent. This physical separation has also led to the development of distinct climatic zones and ecosystems within the sub-continent, including the tropical rainforests of the south, the dry deserts of the west, and the high-altitude regions of the north.

Culturally, India has a rich and diverse history, with a long-standing tradition of art, literature, and philosophy. The sub-continent has been home to several ancient civilizations, including the Indus Valley Civilization, and has been influenced by a variety of religions and cultures, including Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Islam. This cultural diversity is reflected in the many languages, customs, and festivals that are unique to the sub-continent.

Historically, India has also been considered a sub-continent because of its unique political and economic situation. For much of its history, India was ruled by a series of powerful empires and dynasties, and has had a complex relationship with the surrounding regions. In more recent times, India has emerged as a major economic and political power in the region, with a rapidly growing population and economy.

In conclusion, India is considered as a sub-continent because of its distinct geographical, cultural, and historical features. The sub-continent's natural barrier, diverse culture and long-standing tradition, and unique political and economic situation make it stand out from the rest of the Asian continent.
